=== Background ===

Scalpel and Broadsword is a Goldenvale centered podcast which, while staying focused on Goldenvale, tries to bring in conversation that applies to Amtgard in general.  The three hosts of the show, [[Akrith]], [[Bowen]], and [[Promethea]] bring a combined experience of over 30 years in Amtgard to the table.

The show's title was chosen based on a comparison of [[Akrith]] and [[Bowen]], the original two hosts, as problem solvers; as the saying went "Akrith is the surgeon who sees a diseased finger and carefully removes said finger, Bowen is the warrior who sees a diseased finger and cuts off the hand, making sure no more fingers become diseased."
