Puma grew up believing that Otter was one of the coolest Amtgarders ever, something which lead her to name herself after an animal as well. Pumas (also called mountain lions, cougars, and catamounts, among other things) are, of course, Puma's favorite animal, and she wouldn't call herself "Otter" because she thinks that just might be considered identity theft, hence the name "Puma".
