==MORE INFORMATION==
Every year at Twilight (Twilight Peak’s large September event) an 8-man, invitation-only tournament (henceforth ‘Grand Tournament’) is held to crown a new Pitmaster. Over the course of the year leading up to Twilight, the following Northern Empire events will give out an invitation to the winner of their tournaments: Yule, Frostbite, Twilight Peak Coronation, Felfrost Coronation, Tribal Rivals, Raven’s Call, and Battle of the Dens. The last spot in the Grand Tournament is reserved for the current Pitmaster. The winner of the Grand Tournament is crowned the new Pitmaster and cannot lose his/her title until the new year.

A player can become the Pitmaster by defeating the current Pitmaster in a Title Match. In order to earn a Title Match, the player must win ANY public amtgard tournament (even ones outside the Northern Empire!) with at least eight (8) competitors, averaged over all styles if applicable. Once he/she wins a tournament that player has a week from winning to declare on this website or to any Godstone Fair staff member that they wish to have a title shot. After declaring, that player may challenge the Pitmaster for his/her belt whenever and wherever they can find the time to have the match. The pitmaster contender status lasts until the day before the Pitmaster Grand Tournament.

''5.0 Being Pitmaster''<br>

Once a player becomes the Pitmaster he/she receives the belt from the previous Pitmaster and should notify the Godstone Fair (contact information below) and we will mail him/her their custom engraved nameplate. If you are the outgoing Pitmaster, make sure to remove your nameplate and keep it in case you ever regain the title. Please leave the two screws with the belt.

''5.1 Keeping the Belt Safe''<br>

Your only obligation as Pitmaster is to keep the belt safe from harm. Small damages to the belt will be repaired by the Godstone Fair. Larger repairs (as determined by the Fair) will incur a fee on the Pitmaster who was in possession of the belt at the time. This maximum fee for damages is $250.00 (complete belt replacement). For replacement screws/nameplates, please contact the Godstone Fair.

The Pitmaster and Gladiator Belts were introduced to Amtgard by Wunjo in 2008. They were designed to encourage and reward the Best of the Best fighters in Amtgard. Since their inception there have been numerous changes to the way the belts were awarded but they have now settled on a simple, straight-forward method. As the material owner of all three belts, Wunjo has final say over any questions or disputes regarding the championship belts.

HOW TO WIN A BELT

The Pitmaster (Singles) and Gladiator (Doubles) Championship Belts can be attained in two ways:

METHOD 1: CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT VICTORY

Each title has a single event each year that will directly reward the belt(s) as the prize achieving first place.

  • The Pitmaster belt is awarded to the overall winner of the Battle of the Dens fighting tournaments. The Gladiator belts are awarded to the winning team of the Team Tactics doubles tournament. This statement is true event if the event autocrats do not announce it as such.
  • The current belt-holders do NOT need to compete in these tournaments in order to lose them, nor do they receive any chance to defend their titles even if they did participate, but did not fight the eventual winner.
  • The new belt-holder MUST be a member of one of the following groups: any Northern Empire group, any Canadian Group within Ontario, or Caradoc Hold. If the winner is NOT from one of those groups, then the belt is awarded to second place. If second place is not eligible, then the belt is not awarded and it remains with it's current holder(s).

METHOD 2: CHALLENGE

  • Anyone who places first overall in any singles (1v1) tournament at an event may challenge the Pitmaster belt holder to a championship match at that event. The Pitmaster must accept, but he/she is allowed to decide the weapon style(s) and the amount of points required to win. The match must be a singles bout. This challenge can only be issued at the event the qualifying tournament was run and the match must take place at that event or the challenge becomes void.
  • Anyone who places first overall in any doubles (2v2) tournament at an event may challenge the Gladiator belt holders to a championship match at that event. The Gladiators must accept, but they are allowed to decide the weapon style(s) and the amount of points required to win. The match must be a 2v2 bout. This challenge can only be issued at the event the qualifying tournament was run and the match must take place at that event or the challenge becomes void.
  • The challenger MUST be a member of one of the following groups: any Northern Empire group, any Canadian Group within Ontario, and Caradoc Hold.

WHAT DO I DO IF I WIN A BELT?

  • If you win a belt and the current belt-holders are at the event, you can receive your belt from them and bring it home with you. Congratulations! Please return the brass nameplate to the previous champion(s). Afterwards, let Wunjo (Tyler Salvador) know of your victory and he will send you a blank plate for you to engrave your name on!
  • If you win a belt and the current belt-holders are NOT present, let Wunjo know of your victory and he will sort out the details and get you your belt ASAP!
