Someone who is pledged to the Corsairs.

The Corsairs used to have a reputation (whether deserved or not) for making their pledges do a lot of work like chopping wood and carrying water to their campsite, in hopes of it leading to being made a full Corsair, regardless of whether they ever intended to let them in. This perception was even chronicled in song.
