Proposal 1: Should the Iron Mountains accept a new principality formed by Olympus, Starmount and Dark Shores?

____ Yea ____ Nay ____ abstain

Proposal 2: Remove Mists of the Dawn from the Empire of the Iron Mountains

____ Yea ____ Nay ____ abstain

ALTHING PROPOSAL #1

Shall the IM provinces of the Duchy of Olympus (Cedar Rapids, IA), the Shire of Starmount (St. Paul, MN) , and the Shire of Dark Shores (La Cross, WI) be allowed to form a new Principality for the purpose of seeking approval for Kingdom status in the future?

None of the groups are within 150 miles of Denver. The Duchy of Olympus has a contract dating from 03/2003 and their attendance has been found to meet the requirements; during many months, Olympus carries 60 sign-ins; the remainder of the time, the numbers from Starmount and Dark Shores bring the total over 60. Their petition has been found to be acceptable.

Olympus and Starmount were formerly members of the now dissolved Principality of the Rosetta Pact. The PRP was dissolved by Principality Althing so that the parks could seek to form an Eastern and a Western Principality that would be geographically smaller and more manageable Principalities.

ALTHING PROPOSAL #2

It is proposed that the IM formally withdraw their sponsorship from the Mists of the Dawn province, located in Lakeville, MN.

MotD sheriff Aidan stated on the MotD e-mail list on 03/27/08 that a vote would be taking place at their park on 3/29/08 and that they would once again vote on whether or not they should join the new principality potentially being formed around the Duchy of Olympus.

On 3/30/08, core transplant Takezu (currently living in MN) reported on the IM forums that MotD had apparently voted against joining the potential principality, but that the information had been obtained via an online blog and was not an official communication. A reminder was posted on the IM forums on 4/6/08 asking that we be notified officially by MotD as to what the result of their Althing was. As of this posting, we have not received any response.

Assuming that the information found by Takezu is correct and MotD has chosen not to join the new Principality, they would require the IM to administer them directly as opposed to joining the administrative body that is being created in the area. The IM has neither the time nor the resources to handle the administration of such a far-flung group, particularly one that is in such close proximity to other IM groups that it refuses to cooperate with. In addition, this would put the IM in the position of supporting a member park which would fall inside another potential kingdom's core borders. Some members of Mists of the Dawn have expressed that they do wish to remain a part of the Iron Mountains, though there are perceived to be unresolved antagonisms towards IM views and IM policies specifically in relation to the potential new principality which would encompass MotD within its borders.

The lack of official notification of the result of the vote is an additional reminder of the difficulties of interacting with and administrating a group that is not willing to communicate with the core.

The result of a "yea" vote would be that Mists of the Dawn is removed from the Iron Mountains and becomes a freehold.
