Unwielded

All equipment is considered unwielded unless it meets the conditions for being worn or wielded. In addition, the following rules apply:

  1. Unwielded Equipment counts as an Illegal Obstruction. A strike that is prevented from making contact due to unwielded equipment will count as a valid strike against whatever would have been hit if the equipment was not there.
  2. Unwielded Equipment cannot be used to block line of sight or impede the physical movement of other players or their equipment.
  3. Except where prohibited above, players may hold unwielded equipment in the same hand as wielded equipment in situations where it is blatantly and visually obvious which piece of equipment is in use and which one is not. If a player visually appears to have more equipment wielded than they are allowed, all the equipment in question is considered unwielded.
    1. Example 1: A player may wield a polearm two-handed while also holding an unwielded flail in one of the supporting hands. The pole can be used as long as the flail is obviously not in action, and in order to use the flail the player would need to release the polearm from the flail hand.
    2. Example 2: If a player holds two short swords in the same hand then both would be considered unwielded because it would be too difficult for an opponent to tell which one the wielder is intending to use and which one is just being held, regardless of their orientation.
