Backstory
The keep grew cold as Arczire walked through it. The members of Killgharah’s Rest off doing their own adventures. As he ascended the staircase to his room he opened the large red oak door in the highest of the central tower, “My the keep is quite...quiet I wonder where everyone could have gone? Probably off to deal with more of the dark beasts that have been showing up.” he spoke out loud to himself in a rather somber tone. “I haven’t been this alone in quite some time. Not since after leaving the church? Heh...I wonder if anyone even knows about that? A devil raised by clerics.” he said, his voice echoing down the spiral staircase as he rolled his eyes at his own comment. “Maybe...Maybe I should write about it? Maybe that will help some? Who knows maybe I’ll become famous for the Memoirs of Arczire Von Hellheim.” he laughed, his own voice answering him with an echo once again as he shut the doors. The room was decorated with awards and trophies he had accomplished his three years at Kilgharrah’s rest. A hearth with long cold logs sprung to life as he snapped his fingers, the amber and yellow energy surging around it as he cast a simple fire spell to light the logs. He sat down at his oak desk taking out a quill and inkwell from one of the drawers, “Guess I should start from the beginning shouldn’t I?” he thought to himself trying to remember his days of his childhood. “When I was a boy I lived with my parents in a little town south of Waterdeep called Woodhurst. I never really had much of an education and mostly was home taught on how to do basic numbers and writing and reading. I was supposed to be the one to take over the family store and my kids were supposed to take over afterward. It was a very. Straight forward life I suppose but very..well boring.” he said, trailing off a bit in this thought. He picked up his quill and began again, “Well one day...one day that all changed my boring life stricken away from me when two bumps appeared on my forehead. My parents were convinced I bonked my noggin on a cart or the door..I was quite tall for being 15. They took my to the local doctor and he could not decipher the cause of it and told me to continue to rest until they went away...They never did go away.” He twirled the quill in his hand, few droplets of ink staining his desk as he looked down at the paper. “The bumps grew and horns started to form there...my skin turned from the tanned white into a light red. My eyes stayed the same though some people say they glow at night.” he laughed a little about that to himself, “After that..well my life had changed, my parents wanted nothing to do with me...they told me that “Asmodeous’s Son needed to leave the village and never return.”..like they think it changed my entire person. I didn’t have much a choice though. The rest of Woodhurst started to form a mob. So I packed up my small amount of belongings in a rucksack and left.” “A lot of cold nights outside, A lot of people splashing Holy water on me, A lot of people cursing my existence. I was robbed of my belongings a few weeks into my travels and left with nothing. I managed to get to the city of Voladine. I honestly thought I was going to die by the time I got to the city, but..but then a woman appeared before me. I still remember the conversation like yesterday.” “You look cold and hungry boy..where are your parents?” a soft voice asked me in the pouring rain. My clothes tattered and coming down with some kind of illness I looked up and saw the Symbol of Lathander on a white robe, a hood over the head of the figure. “I must be dreaming.” I said in a meek voice, “No you are not. Do you need help? Lathanders light shines on all.” the soft voice said again I stood up, barely getting to my feet, “I...I do need help.” I said, stepping forward. “Come with me to the Temple of Lathander then,” she said, reaching a hand towards me. I took her hand and walked with her through the city street. We walked in silence, I felt like I couldn’t go on but pressed on. Trying to get to this...Salvation. We stopped at the steps of the Temple, “My name is Sister Mariah.” she said, dropping her hood, bandages over her eyes, long blond hair falling to the side of her face, “Welcome.” she said, helping me up the staircase. I followed her up the stairs to my new..home. He paused then looked up at the night sky, a single tear running down the left side of his face as he looked down to the page, “I wonder how she is doing…” he muttered to himself. He picked up the quill again and dipped it in the inkwell. “They trained me at the temple in the ways of combat. Sister Mariah said “You are very strong Arc. You must use your strength to protect others.” I continued to train and live at the temple serving Lathander..and living my new life. After I became the age of 25 I left the temple to venture on my own with my new found skills and revitalization in life.” “About a half year into my travels I found the Faye of the Northern Evergreen Forest. Tricky fellows and I was advised to avoid them but avid as I was to learn more about the world I went to them to learn what I could. I found that they had powerful druidic magic and through a series of deals I managed to get them to teach me their magic. I learned much in the way of druidism and connected it to the earth. After I was taught this magic my deal concluded with them by helping them rebuild their “Faye Portal” This would allow them to travel to other planes.” He stood up from his desk and looked out the window towards the Faye Forest that was North of Kilgharrah’s Rest, “And I used it. I used it to escape the Forgotten Realms and come to a new world. One where I would hopefully not be judged for my devilish appearance.” he spoke out loud, “I met Whimsey who brought me here to help construct the keep. We worked tirelessly as others began to show, The Assassin Fasmin Crovar, The Warrior Acaban, and many more who became my friends. I took up the Office of Prime Minister and have been so for my stay at Kilgharrah’s Rest.” he said walking back to his desk and writing the last parts he spoke out loud.
