The Greatwood Circle
Contents
Description:
The Greatwood Circle is a gathering of protectors that seek to keep the nature of Northreach safe from destruction. It is comprised of four druidic orders that work together for a common goal. It was founded by Archdruid Vaellyn in an attempt to unite all of the kingdom's wildfolk.
Orders:
-Animal Order-
You have a strong connection to beasts, and you are allied with the beasts of Northreach. Your dedication to preserving the ecosystem for the animals of the north will reward your character with the ability to commune with them in character while role playing with the house, assuming that they have no reason to be aggressive to you based on actions you have already committed. Committing wanton cruelty to animals or killing animals unnecessarily is anathema to your order. (This doesn’t prevent you from defending yourself against animals or killing them cleanly for food.)
-Leaf Order-
You revere plants and the bounty of nature, acting as both a gardener and warden for the wilderness, teaching sustainable techniques to communities, and helping areas regrow after disasters or negligent humanoid expansion. Committing wanton cruelty to plants or killing plants unnecessarily is anathema to your order. (This doesn’t prevent you from defending yourself against plants or harvesting them when necessary for survival.)
High Warden is Boot.
-Storm Order-
You carry the fury of the storm within you, channeling it to terrifying effect and riding the winds through the sky. The harrowing blizzards of winter and the thundering rains of spring herald your arrival. Polluting the air or allowing those who cause major air pollution or climate shifts to go unpunished is anathema to your order. (This doesn’t force you to take action against merely potential harm to the environment or to sacrifice yourself against an obviously superior foe.)
-Wild Order-
The savage, uncontrollable call of the natural world infuses you, granting you the ability to change your shape and take on the ferocious form of a wild creature. Becoming fully domesticated by the temptations of civilization is anathema to your order. (This doesn’t prevent you from buying and using processed goods or staying in a city for an adventure, but you can never come to rely on these conveniences or truly call such a place your permanent home.)
Ranks:
-House Ally-
This rank will be for those who with to associate themselves with the Circle, but do not wish to commit themselves as full members into the household. This rank is immune to any requirements that membership would impart on your character. You are still welcome to come and go from the Circle under supervision, however.
-Initiate-
As you begin your walk with the Circle, you will appointed this entry position. You will speak to the High Wardens to choose which order(s) you wish to be apart of. You will be tasked to missions with your fellow order members as you strive to prove your name within the Household. You are allowed to walk the grove under supervision.
-Keeper-
Keeper will be awarded to initiates who are promoted into full membership by being apart of the Circle for one month. You will be free to walk the grove as you wish, helping your order as you guide initiates and watch for any threats around Northreach.
-Warden-
When a High Warden deems a Keeper to be a shining example of their order, they will be elevated to the position of Warden. They will be the personal protectors and task force of their High Wardens. Wardens are encouraged to take a Keeper as a pupil to one day aid their ascension to Warden.
-High Warden-
Every order shall be led by a High Warden. The position is held indefinitely by an exemplary member. They are in charge of ensuring their order members are not breaking their oaths, overseeing protection to their focus of nature, and sending out circle members on missions as needed. Should there ever need to be a new High Warden, the Valewalker will hold a vote of all members within the order to decide who shall take the next title of High Warden.
-Valewalker-
The Greatwood Circle is led by the Valewalker. Whoever holds this title shall be responsible for the success and growth of the Circle. The High Wardens will defer to the Valewalker in times of disagreement. Should a new Valewalker be needed, the council of High Wardens will choose who shall replace the previous. The Valewalker must be apart of all four orders, keeping to the anathemas of each.
