Frak your couch! Fraketh thy coucheth!
Calibarus of Crying Heavens, Neverwinter
Biography
Born in the depths of cold winter, Calibarus began life as the only son of a poor farming family in the Eastern lands. Shortly after his fifth winter, the Mongol invasion swept through the lands, leaving Calibarus orphaned and alone. However, it was to his good fortune that he was found and taken in by a traveling warrior-monk. Together, they journeyed back to the monk's temple, where Calibarus immediately began training in the arts of battle. As he grew older he also grew in strength and skill, mastering the quarterstaff and naginata. At the age of fifteen, Calibarus became the youngest initiated monk of the fearsome Temple of the Spider. So trusted was he by his fellow monks that Calibarus was assigned the great task of traveling West to establish another temple. He left at once on his quest, without hesitation.
For four winters, he traveled. At last he came upon the shire of Crying Heavens in the kingdom of Neverwinter. He founded the new temple and set about seeking new initiates to the order. There he learned of and met the mighty wizard, Mortis Nuntius, who looked upon him favorably. After assisting Mortis in the hostile take over of the Church of Azurea, Calibarus began recruiting others to join the order, including two warriors to act as guardians of the temple. Though he has not yet summoned the dark-elf, Sarrif to call forth the spider goddess S'Gath, the threat remains. Should Calibarus indicate a need, the elf will come.
Shortly after recruiting the warriors as guardians of the temple, Calibarus came upon a wandering bard trespassing on the temple grounds. The bard was called Nirama and was talented in lesser magics. She claimed to have been seeking a place in which to settle and gather great tales. Intrigued with the possibility she presented, Calibarus invited her to become a devotee of S'Gath. Having never had siblings, Calibarus comes to think of Nirama as a younger sister and looks after her faithfully.
During the great battle at the church of Azurea, Calibarus met and formed an alliance with the barbarian Javaltar. The barbarian and his wife assisted Calibarus many times during the battle and in the end, Calibarus came to consider Javaltar his brother-at-arms. The general understanding of this arrangement is that should someone foolishly attempt to strike one down, they can be assured that vengeance will come swiftly from the other.
Personality
Despite his occupation as a monk, Calibarus is first and foremost a man. Those who are privileged enough to call him friend are gifted with his loyalty, his wit and his laughter. Those unfortunates who find themselves his enemy fear him rightly. He doesn't forgive betrayals.
His sense of humor is noteworthy; in the temple, as a child, he was infamous for his pranks and in his adulthood he appreciates a good jest. His patience is nearly limitless and his will is strong; he's not easily fooled.
As a leader, he is both strict and personable; his men follow his word without hesitation. His dedication to the temple is unparalleled. For the glory of S'Gath, he dares anything.
It's said his temper is fearsome when roused.
In battle he shows no mercy and gives no quarter to his opponents.
