Kel'Mahv, of Boreal Dale, Goldenvale
Biography
Out of Character
Kel'Mahv (or just Mahv) began playing in January of 2014, originally signing in as Nakash. While Nakash is still used as a character, she decided to be confusing and change her name on people (though she does answer to both).
Back in 2013, Dimaryp obtained a job at the same place of business as Mahv, and he started telling her about Amtgard. However, she worked Sundays, and wasn’t sure she’d enjoy it all that much. He finally convinced her to go in January, she was hooked, and after swapping around her schedule, started attending regularly.
Since then, she’s been Dragonmaster, Regent, and helps run quests as often as possible. She enjoys making plasti-dip gear, trying new crafting things, writing extensive character backstories, and role-playing.
Kel'Mahv
Kel'Mahv is a half-elven traveling researcher of all things mysterious, strange, and arcane. Born to a different name, she grew up in a peaceful enough town - too peaceful for her tastes. While her human mother was a healer and quite content to remain in the seaside village, her father had been an elven sailor, and Kel'Mahv seemed to inherit his love of adventure and travel. It led to many childhood days pretending to be a knight, or a wizard, or a pirate, and on more than one occasion, getting herself hurt or in trouble. Not that it ever stopped her. Eventually, she began to learn how to manipulate magic, and her mother decided to send her off to her grandfather to be properly tutored before she accidentally set fire to the town or something.
It was under him that she took up the name Kel'Mahv. He gave her an education that would have otherwise been unavailable to her, and encouraged her desire to learn. When he passed, she then began to travel the lands, exploring as she went and learning new and interesting things. At some point, she became traveling partners with a barbarian named Tak, and they had many misadventures together.
As they wandered through the southern portions of Goldenvale, she started to hear tales of strange planar shifts happening in the north - most notably, Boreal Dale. While others considered the stories the ravings of either the mad or the drunk (or both), she considered the possibility of there being a grain of truth in the rumors. By the time the pair arrived, the planar shifts had stopped, though Kel'Mahv found a new interesting predicament - King Dawnbreaker's proclamation that non-humans were not allowed in his kingdom and were given a chance to leave. If they did not, he would kill them.
Boreal Dale, however, first incited a rebellion, though when its leader was killed, was able to bargain with the King for his word that the Dale would be left alone from then on. Kel'Mahv decided it would be best to stay put for the time being, and discover what she could in the surrounding lands.
Nakash
Nakash is a dragonrider from the lost kingdom of Wynshar, and is legitimately confused and insulted when others haven’t seem to have heard of it. What she doesn’t know is she was displaced in time, and Wynshar fell a millenium before the current date.
The wood elf was born in the human kingdom of Wynshar, her parents having moved to the desert lands years before. They had only expected to be there a decade or two before they moved on, however, at the age of eleven - the average age for such events - Nakash was bonded by a lesser dragon (a less intelligent dragon species that combines both metallic and chromatic dragon traits). This was considered a great honor in the kingdom of dragonriders, but the riders had always been humans - never had any other race been chosen by a hatchling. Once a bond was made, it could only be broken by death of one of the parties, almost always resulting in the death of both rider and dragon.
So Nakash stayed, training in their military to use magic and care for her dragon. In the aerial force, she was expected to use spells, arrows, and other ranged weapons, as well as enchant her dragon to be more resistant to harm. Should they be grounded and forced to fight, they were considered dead, and thus she never learned to fight with melee weapons. Such is the reason why, when they landed to help what appeared to be a stranded merchant’s wagon during a routine patrol, the rider and dragon were ambushed and left for dead in the desert.
The dragon died - the elf did not. She doesn’t remember much between the attack and finally coming to her senses - her fellows claimed to have found her stumbling around the desert in a daze, covered in blood, unresponsive to any attempts to talk to her. Nakash spent some time recovering, and even once her body healed, her soul hadn’t. She attempted to stay in Wynshar, but eventually decided it would be best to travel for a short while, away from the reminders and the kingdom she was so loyal to. It was decided she would return to the homeland of her parents, to view it at least once and to better understand what their people were like.
So, Nakash set off, making her way north, to the kingdom of Goldenvale. Following the directions given to her, the dragonrider came across the barony of Boreal Dale, and the forests beyond that in which lived the wood elves. However, after serving a human king, and living alongside humans for so long, Nakash felt horribly out of place with the elves, instead deciding to stay in the nearby town.
It was then that a malevolent being known as Xerach'Xhul tore open the barriers between the various planes of existence, and through the following adventures, got to know the citizens of Boreal Dale as they were transported from one plane to the next. Nakash began to have nightmares, visions, and heard a voice warning her of what they were to face next, and was able to better prepare her fellows for the challenges ahead. In the final plane, before the defeat of Xerach’Xhul, Nakash discovered the soul of her dragon was trapped, forced to do the demon’s bidding. She used old magic to resurrect her dragon, binding it to an unhatched egg obtained in a previous plane, before helping in destroying Xerach’Xhul once and for all.
Nakash decided that it would be best to stay in Boreal Dale a while longer, after being elected Regent, and set up shop as a merchant. After the death of Dimaryp (both the original, and the one that had crossed over from another plane), Nakash became Baroness, and focused her efforts on protecting the Dale’s inhabitants against both the orcs trying to claim their lands, and the King’s exile of non-humans.
