Ubbe
Listen well, oh ye who seek the tale of the Viking warrior Ubbe and his battle against the monstrous beast. In the days of yore, in the land of the Vikings, Ubbe was a renowned hero of great valor and might. He sailed across the sea, seeking adventure and glory, and his name was known throughout the land.
But one day, as Ubbe and his men traversed the perilous waters, they heard a fearsome roar that shook the very foundations of their ship. A serpent of enormous size, with scales as hard as steel and eyes that glowed like fire, had emerged from the depths of the sea. Its head was that of a dragon, and its breath was poison to all who dared to face it.
But Ubbe was not one to be cowed by fear or to shrink from a challenge. With a fierce cry, he drew his mighty sword, a weapon that had been forged in the heart of a volcano, and leaped onto the back of the beast. His men watched in awe and admiration as their leader battled the monster with all his strength and skill.
The serpent twisted and turned, trying to dislodge Ubbe from its back, but he held on with grim determination. Blow after blow, he struck at the beast, each strike ringing out like thunder. The monster's scales were tough, but Ubbe's sword was tougher, and he hewed through them with ease.
Finally, after a long and grueling battle, Ubbe struck the killing blow. With a mighty stroke, he severed the beast's head from its body, and the serpent let out a final, terrible cry. Its body convulsed and thrashed, spraying seawater and blood in all directions, before sinking beneath the waves.
Ubbe emerged from the water, his sword still clutched tightly in his hand. He stood tall and proud, his chest heaving with exhaustion but his heart filled with the joy of victory. His men cheered and shouted, praising their leader as the bravest and greatest of all Viking warriors.
And so it was that Ubbe's legend grew, passed down through the ages as a testament to his strength, his courage, and his unyielding spirit. For he was a hero in the truest sense, a barbarian who dared to face the most terrible of foes and emerged victorious, time and time again but this was not enough for our great hero.
Ubbe was missing the most important part of being a great warrior. A great death. After all of his travels no one or thing was able to claim ultimate victory against Ubbe in the heat of battle. He hears of a land on the edge of a river named River's Edge that claims too have great warriors. This is where he will find his death and be granted the opportunity to drink from curved horns with the Valkryies in Valhalla!
Finding the most potent of the fighters in River's Edge named Barnabas he grips his sword and challenges the beast of a man to a fight to the death. The warrior smiles and agrees. Ubbe grips is sword and swings at the warrior with a rage of a thousand thunderstorms but Barnabas dodges each blow. He then counters and land a perfectly timed stab to Ubbes chest. His sword shatters through Ubbes sternum and glides through the rest of his body with ease. Ubbe smiles and looks down at the sword and falls to his knees. It is done. A great life has ended.
Ubbe then wakes up to find himself in a unrecognizable place. Some kind of hovel? He quickly stands up and leaves the shack too find himself still in River's Edge. WHERE ARE THE VALKRYIES, THE CURVED HORNS FILLED WITH MEAD, VALHALLA! Barnabas is there wiping the blood off his sword still smiling after his victory. Ubbe then jumps on his sword to die again but wakes up again in the same hovel. This must be Hel. Ubbe charges Barnabas again and ask him why won't he die!
After learning the news of the immortality of this new strange land Ubbes new goal is to find a way too die. But in the mean time will help these Riverfolk in there quest to build a stronger society within the Kingdom of the Rising Winds.
