Super Heavy Padding
Slash-Legal Padding with an edge-to-edge cross section of 12” or greater is considered Super Heavy Padding.
- Striking Surfaces at the outer edges of these cross-sections must include at least 1” of uncompressed, Approved Open-Cell Foam on top of any other padding.
- Super Heavy Padding added must start within 3” of the Striking Tip and proceed continuously towards the handle.
- Super Heavy Padding Substitution: For each inch of Super Heavy Padding added you may replace two (2) inches of required Slash-Legal Padding with Incidental Padding. Incidental Padding added in this manner must begin by replacing the Slash-Legal closest to the handle and then proceed continuously towards the Striking Tip. A weapon cannot substitute more than 50% of its Slash-Legal surfaces this way.
Example: A 48” Long weapon would typically have 32” of Strike-Legal followed by 16” of handle and pommel. Using Super Heavy Padding substitution you could have 11” of Super Heavy Padding, followed by 21” of Incidental Padding, and then 16” of Handle.
