The Man who desires nothing
Hailing from the once prosperous village of Evenflow, a village that came to know his wrath, Tokwan Vaunt lived a very different life from the one he is known for now. Born one Tenken Faunt, to a loving mother and a vicious fisherman father, he was often the brunt of psychological abuse in the form of emotional extremes. With the aid of his mother, he escaped his village at a very young age and found himself a deckhand aboard a ship of explorers. In the length of a ten year expedition, Tenken grew into a strong and defiant young swashbuckler. He earned and bared his scars with pride.
Before returning to the western mainland, Tenken's vessel landed on the shores of Gothika, a small island far off the coast and right in the middle of the Farakonian Sea. This land was a violent and untamed land. Many of the settlements consisted of bandits, murderers and fugitives, as well as its fair share of Dark Magic users. One such practitioner of Voudun came to interest Tenken. Zeebakoun, a Dathwey Chicken Chaser by day, and hermaphroditic Witch Doctor by night named Papa Dodo. Dodo opened Tenken's mind's eye and showed him true might, blessing him with dark powers in the form of a Gothikan Reaper Frog, the most poisonous creature in the known world. Tenken found his blood and saliva toxic and his body able to fade from sight at will. Tenken embraced the hatred in his heart and, like his soul, twisted his name to shed the man he once was.
Tokwan Vaunt returned to his ship, slaughtered its captain and offered absolution to those who would follow him, and oblivion to those who would not. Days later, Evenflow burned to the ground in a massacre that is often rebuked as rumour.
