A few of my friends started playing, including my roomate. I helped out with some garb, and weapon making events were hosted at my house. The first time I actually played (at a demo) I wasn't interested, even though my younger sister (Karina) loved it. But then I got sucked in more and more. I started making chainmaille, I attended a raid, helped with a quest, more weapon making nights, a few visits to the park. I even spent all weekend at Runequest doing organizational & special effects stuff. Eventually I was convinced to become a healer right before our last Frostlands raid. Now, less then a year later from my first demo, I am a complete amtgard devotee, I have my awards framed and hanging in my living room and I have even become the Crimson Circle chancellor. What a ride.

Redesta Rivenoir, of the Shire of Crimson Circle , Freehold of Amtgard.

Biography

I see Amtgard as a bit like quicksand. When you're at the edges of it, you kick and scream to try to get away, but it pulls you in either way. Unlike quicksand, once you are submerged, you find you really start to like it. At least this has been my experience.
