+ | It was two hundred and fifty four years ago when we, the armies of Kempar marched out across miles of barren lands to aid our ally in what they claimed was dire need. We were fifty thousand strong and brought with us many non-militants who herded goats for food, or were smiths, or ladies of convenience for coin. When we finally met with our ally we were directed at their assailants and fought bravely. Yet, little did we know it was all a ruse, our aid was simply a manner to move our army away from our homeland, we never expected those we claimed as allies to charge at us from behind. It was indeed a slaughter, only a few hundred escaped into the mountains, only half as many were soldiers. Winter moved in and we found ourselves trapped with little food when we happened upon a strange sight. A valley opened below us and an ancient castle nestled in the crook of the vale. Stranger architecture we had never seen, statues of stone, white and tall. With trolls in the mountains it was haven amongst turmoil. The castle itself was home to many an unsavory creature where many brave men lost their lives clearing a way. There, starving and huddled from the snow we would have died, had it not been for the kindness of dwarves. A tunnel that ran for many miles behind the castle led to their kingdom. King Thallan, of Clan Crimsoncleaver, sent small amounts of food and blankets to sustain us for the rest of the winter. When the snows melted in the spring, we were in no shape for travel, so I sent Captain Nattor and twenty-five of his best men to return to Kempar to access the situation. While we waited we built a small hamlet to live in and planted seeds given to us by the Elves of the nearby forest. It was always the idea to await the return of Captain Nattor, before returning to Kempar. Alas he never returned, and the mood of the soldiers was that of enough war and enough travel and soon I found it hard myself to want to leave. It was a beautiful little haven, where we watched for the Captains return, yet he never did. Sadly no one missed him and during the next year the castle had begun to be referred to as Castle Havenswatch, and much to my dismay I, General Zeckard Hailstrike found others referring to me as their king. I argued that I was not their king for the next 36 years of my life until I was 67 years old, and ambushed and slain by trolls near the castle lake with nothing on me but a dagger. My son and his sons and their sons sat on the throne after my time until this last season when my great, great, great, great, great, great, grandson simply disappeared. Some say he went far off searching for adventure, and leaving his kingdom to fend for itself, while others say he was slain by creatures of the realm near the castle, yet others whisper of a darker force at work. This left Havenswatch to turn to a new page of political history as willed by the Late Andrem Hailstrike, to form a democracy, with a High Lord in place of king, and a group of advisors to aim the coarse of the kingdom.
+ | During this transition, the first Chancellor of Havenswatch, Archimedes Willum also known simply as Willum was left as acting King, Steward, Chancellor, and Champion, It was a tough job but for a time Willum performed it to the best of his skill. Willum decided that it was unjust to leave all the decisions to one man, and hired advisors Azariaz of Clan Artor, a wise local Dwarven healer, and Martese Du'Hannigan Et'Dubree a fine forester, Commander, and long time friend. Then the time finally came to admit that the king may not return or had passed. Willum, fearing the worst, decided it was time to read the Kings last will and testament which said that, since the King had no heirs that there shall be decided by a vote from the populace a High Lord, to rule over all things, a chancellor to keep track of the kingdoms treasury, a Steward to take the place of the Highlord should he cease to perform, and to govern the craftsmanship and attitudes of the people, and finally a Champion, to act as sheriff and a hero to the people. Azariaz ran for the position of High Lord and Martese ran for the position of Steward and were both elected by popular vote into the positions.
+ | The first Highlord Azariaz Artor, who had originally been the diplomat of the dwarves, speaking for Clan Artor was quiet and stern, often seeking the best interest of everyone only sat on the Highlord Throne for one term, before the plague struck Havenswatch and he saw his people slowly dieing off. Stricken with grief from the other beaurocrats who sought only to gain from the plague, he soon returned home to his kin and uncle, Kazarus Artor who was first in the running for King of Stormward Mountain, Kingdom of the dwarves. Before he left, he did manage to find information from the elves telling of a cure for the plague. He lead the crusades to recover the relics needed for the cure, recovering the Orbs of life, and the Unicorn, Cyrili, horns healing powers.
+ | Martese Du'Hannigan Et'Dubree took up the 2nd term of Highlord on the throne, though the realm was in a very weakened state, and few remained. The major achievement of Martese, the half drunken quick witted, halfling Highlord was in capturing the blood of a troll to aid in the healing of the plague. It is unsure what happended in the following months, but some say both Highlord Martese and Chancellor Willum both were struck down with the plague, others say the traveled away from the realm seeking adventure, leaving the realm to fend for itself.
+ | It was during this time the realm had no rulers, and seemed on the brink of collapse that from seemingly nowhere a the dimwitted fool barbarian Arick Darkfist suddenly found himself placed in charge of the kingdom. Most saw Arick as incapable of ruling the realm, but once placed in a position of power, it seemed the cloak of a fool was shed, and a sharp minded brute was ruler of Havenswatch. All the while followed by the shadowy sluagh, Ozzette, who seemed to constantly be leading Arick into greatness.

It was two hundred and fifty four years ago when we, the armies of Kempar marched out across miles of barren lands to aid our ally in what they claimed was dire need. During this transition, the first Chancellor of Havenswatch, Archimedes Willum also known simply as Willum was left as acting King, Steward, Chancellor, and Champion, It was a tough job but for a time Willum performed it to the best of his skill. Willum decided that it was unjust to leave all the decisions to one man, and hired advisors Azariaz of Clan Artor, a wise local Dwarven healer, and Martese Du'Hannigan Et'Dubree a fine forester, Commander, and long time friend.
