Character Lore
Amalga, also known as The Amalgamated Morningstar, had a divine mission: to protect the forest and its surrounding inhabitants from the Elemental Plane of Fire by sealing a dimensional rift. Created by the gods for this purpose (as a sentient weapon), she was imbued with powerful magics to initiate and catalyze the sealing process from within the rift. This would have been a permanent solution to save lives from impending devastation. However, faced with the risk of ceasing to exist, she made a desperate decision to teleport to the plane of Amtgardia.
Soon after, Amalga encountered Chamonix, a crystal dragon afflicted with a condition draining their radiant magic reserves. Defying her fate, Amalga chose to stay with Chamonix, sustaining them with the radiant magic they needed. As they neared the end of their life, aware of Amalga's deepest desire to live as a mortal, they used a surge of draconic magic (from a nearly forgotten astrological event known as the Aurora Arcanis) to cast a contingency spell on her. This spell would ensure her to rematerialization in human form should her existence be threatened. While this protected her, it also meant she could no longer complete the rift's sealing alone, necessitating a new approach to prevent its devastation without sacrificing herself.
Upon awakening in her human body, Amalga received divine insight into her origins. She now understands what material components she needs to replicate her magical essence and seal the rift permanently. Embarking on a new quest to gather these reagents, she journeyed to the Barony of Murkbottom, eager to learn about its inhabitants and perhaps find allies in her quest.
