Yes, Moon is a skunk familiar. He was created by Sethra Lavitra after she realized the desert was too harsh a place for a baby. Moon is the love child between her and Maraikoh. Lady Sethra's love for Moon caused her to summon him as a skunk until he was old enough to somewhat fend for himself. Moon is loved by all the citizens of High Oasis. He is also squired to Sir Pollux.
