As a fighter, Riken is a self-proclaimed joke. As she often says, "the day I am confused as a threat on this field, everyone just needs to go home for the week." She will always legitimately try to fight, and will proudly stand with her teammates in non-class battles, but she knows that she isn't very good.
+
Riken used to be an active player and roleplayer in the Kingdom of Crystal Groves. However, since being diagnosed with severe fibromyalgia and becoming dependent on a wheelchair, she rarely engages in such shenanigans, but rather spends her time watching and crafting.

Riken often prefers to play Healer on the field. She feels most at home wearing her red sash, and is often armed with a bag filled with spell balls and a football playbook on her left wrist. Healing is her bread and butter, and what she will always revert to during a battle game.

On the field, Riken is always in garb. She has five garbers, and is well-known as a garber at her park. Although she rarely takes orders, when she does offer to take them, she often has to close the ordering process in only a few hours.

Riken prefers to fight in skirts, claiming that since the game takes place prior to 1650, that's what a woman would have worn. She often prefers Anglo-Saxon garb, featuring a shorter apron dress over a longer chemise. She will never be seen in a corset, as it simply is not her style.
+
Riken's one true love in Amtgard is crafting. She has won multiple park-level and kingdom level events. She participated heavily in the 2017 A&S season in her kingdom, winning overall dragonmaster at the winter and summer events, dragonmaster without highest score at the spring event, and highest scoring item at the fall event of the year, along with many judges' choice awards.

She will also make and sell class sashes for other players. She often does this as a fundraiser for a group, and can generally be talked into doing so simply for the cost of materials.
+
She is a fifth-generation artisan, trained in Appalachian styles of art. She has been crafting since she was four years old, and one of her earliest memories is of kneeling on a pile of phone books alongside her mother, aunt, and grandmother to hand-quilt a wedding quilt for a short-deadline order.

Riken enjoys her roleplaying, and is known in the local roleplaying community as "the one with the creepy voice." When Riken roleplays, she uses a high-pitched, child-like voice to speak as her character. That character is a young four-tailed kitsune, only 73 years old, who thinks herself to be an adult because she was given permission to leave her clan.
+
Severe fibromyalgia prevents Riken from crafting as much as she would like nowadays. Her hands cramp easily, leaving her mostly to crochet, cross stitch, embroider and write her books, which she one day hopes to publish.

Riken always appears in full garb, often wearing full layered dresses and prefers having skirts to play in on the field. She is not a fan of corsets, and makes all of her own garb.
+
She has skills in spinning yarn, calligraphy, illumination, weaving on a myriad of loom types, acrylic painting, knitting, basket weaving, applique, quilting, cooking, baking, paper making, silversmithing and needle felting. These are rarely used, and limited to "good fibro days", as she puts it.

She is also the owner of the Phoenix Mountain Roleplay Tavern, a roleplaying setting that travels to events and gives players a location where they know they can find other roleplayers. There is also an online aspect of the roleplay tavern, found at http://www.chatzy.com/amtgardroleplay

Riken is a member of Team Roleaply Mid-Atlantic and the Raiders of the Lost Bread. As for fun households, she is a member of Whovian Camp, the Order of the Large Talon, and the Planeteers.
+
Riken is often jokingly referred to as "the vampire" because one way that her fibromyalgia manifests itself is via  polymorphic light eruption syndrome. For those not medically in-the-know, this translates loosely as "allergic to sunlight." She is often found behind dark glasses and covered head-to-toe to keep herself safe when outside.

Riken is a notorious crafter, known for making garb and garb accessories of all types. She also spins yarn, weaves cloth, embroiders, does cross stitch, calligraphy, scroll making, painting, watercolor, and marker work. She also enjoys teaching classes, and multiple other crafts as well.

Biography

Lady Riken Eclipse, of the Valley of Smoke, Kingdom of Crystal Groves

Riken used to be an active player and roleplayer in the Kingdom of Crystal Groves. However, since being diagnosed with severe fibromyalgia and becoming dependent on a wheelchair, she rarely engages in such shenanigans, but rather spends her time watching and crafting.

Severe fibromyalgia prevents Riken from crafting as much as she would like nowadays. Her hands cramp easily, leaving her mostly to crochet, cross stitch, embroider and write her books, which she one day hopes to publish.

In January, 2014, Riken met Kit Silvertail at a kingdom event. In January, 2015, Kit Silvertail proposed to Riken, in a mundane sense, in front of 150 people gathered at the same kingdom event they had met at the year before. The couple married on October 3, 2015. Their characters have not officially wed, although the couple hopes for said shenanigans at the fall 2018 kingdom event, which will coincide with their third wedding anniversary.

In the mundane world, Riken is known as Gretchen Meunier. She used to work as a newspaper reporter in her small West Virginian town until worsening fibromyalgia forced her to take an unplanned retirement in March, 2016.

Riken was awarded her Paragon Healer in October 2014 and her Lady title in April 2014.

Belted Family

Riken is squired to Arch Duchess Emer Rustytongue, Knight of the Serpent, Baroness of Dragonspine.
