Ranks of the Spartans

The Spartans are very Rank based. Each rank has a corresponding greek name. The ranks are as follows.

Captain/Strategos: This is rank wears the US military insignia for Capt./Lt. and on dress tunic two gold braids around the wrist.

Lieutenant/Polemarch: This rank wears the US military insignia for 1stLt./Lt.JG and on dress tunic one silver braid around the wrist.

Lieutenant/Enomotarch: This rank wears the US military insignia for 2ndlt./Ens and on dress tunic one gold braid around the wrist.

Sergeant/Tetrarch: This rank wears the US military insignia for sgt. and on dress tunic one green braid around the wrist.

Corporal/Phylarch: This rank wears the US military insignia for cpl. and on dress tunic one blue braid around the wrist.

Full Member/Megas Ephebes: This rank wears no rank insignia and is only distinguished by the lamda on the back of their tabard/tunic.

Petitioning Member/Ephebes: This rank wears no rank insignia or lamda on their tabard/tunic.

Promotions

Promotions in the Company are very odd. Several ways are used. Sometimes you are promoted out of necessity, but usually after a demonstration of skill and merit on and off the battle field. Contributions to the Company and Amtgard.

Petitioning Member to Full Member: Spartans go under a POP or Period of Petitioning for 3-12 months, before they are awarded their lamda. At the time of advancement, they must pass a knowledge, fighting, amtgard, and command examination.

Corporal the forgotten rank: Corporals are full members appointed by the sergeants. Corporals serve as the sergeants assistant in training.

Sergeant: Sergeants serve as cohort executive officers. Their are only one or two per cohort.

Lieutenants: Lieutenants are commanding officers of cohorts. They have complete command over their cohorts and can decide how it is run.

The Company Executive Officer: The company Executive Officer, runs and administrates the company.
