History
Synging Sands was a shire founded by Raven the Muse back in 2001, but when Kaads became the second sheriff, he soon dropped his position when faced with overwhelming drama. He then stole their flag, rejoined The Port of Winter's Night (Then Crusader's Cove, his home shire), gave it to the current sheriff, and demanded that they raid him to get their flag back.
This demanded raid was met with refusal, and the inhabitants of Synging Sands were ostracized throughout the kingdom for their cowardice. Temporary flag stealing was and is considered a time-honored sport in amtgard; met with honorable retribution and not the general snivelling shown by members of the former shire. Several of their past members still hold a grudge against Kaads for killing The Synging Sands, including Raven the Muse.
Several unsuccessful attempts have since been made to restart the shire, such as:
"We had some internal problems with attendance but after a year SS is back and doing better than ever. We are currently attempting to reinsert ourselves back into the kingdom of The Rising Winds."
This was a statement made by Raven the Muse back in 2003. However, this attempt, along with many others was unsuccessful. It is believed by many that the cowardice shown by its prior inhabitants cursed the land. No further attempts have been made since.
During its fallout, Synging Sands was infamous to being a heavy-political shire, in which the members would play amtgard for a very limited time before retiring to a restaurant to discuss the events of the chapter.
Despite this, many quality amtgarders did come out of the shire, who still play.
