I found this song once upon a time on the ESAM A&S forum, [1]. Once I realized recently that the songs linked in that thread were no longer included in the drop box they were previously linked from, I set about recalling from memory the harmony that was added to the Garth Brooks classic to make this duet. If anyone has lyrics, or still has that previous audio recording, I would love to confirm if I recalled the lyrics accurately. Preformed, and presumably written by [Sean Carlton] and [Larin Moonstar].

Shadow Ireland:

They say mother earth is breathing ..They say that mother earth is grieving, With each wave that finds the shore ..Wave Scoria(SP?) sings the shore, Her soul rises in the evening ..Sleep won’t find her brow this evening For to open twilight's door ..So she’ll open twilight’s door Her eyes are the stars in heaven ..Her eyes search the stars in heaven Watching o'er us all the while ..For the fire in his eyes And her heart it is in Ireland ..And her heart is neigh in Ireland Deep within the Emerald Isle ..No where on the emerald isle

We are forty against hundreds ..In 40 days that seemed like Hundreds, In someone else's bloody war ..Since a man went off to war We know not why were fighting ..On the dock she stood crying Or what we're dying for ..Wondering what he’s leaving for They will storm us in the morning ..Go and do what you must do dear When the sunlight turns to sky ..Are the words that she did sigh Death is waiting for its dance now ..He kissed her lips and then held her Fate has sentenced us to die ..And in her eyes he saw her cry

Ireland I am coming home I can see your rolling fields of green And fences made of stone I am reaching out won't you take my hand I'm coming home Ireland

Oh the captain he lay bleeding ..In her nights she lay dreaming I can hear him calling me ..Of what life’s supposed to be These men are yours now for the leading ..She spends her waking hours daydreaming Show them to their destiny ..Of what’s to be her destiny As I look up all around me ..And she looks up all around her I see the ragged tired and torn ..To see the haggard tired and torn I tell them to make ready ..She tries to rest so she is ready 'Cause we're not waiting for the morn ..To face the coming morn

..Ireland won’t you bring him home ..To walk your rolling fields of green ..And fences made of stone ..won't you please reach out, take him by the hand ..And bring him home Ireland

Now the fog is deep and heavy ..As the fog lay thick and heavy As we forge the dark and fear ..It’s been almost a year We can hear their horses breathing ..Through the pain she forces breathing As in silence we draw near ..As the time is drawing near There are no words to be spoken ..There were no words to be spoken Just a look to say good-bye ..Just a look into the sky I draw a breath and night is broken ..She takes a breath as night is broken As I scream our battle cry ..As we hear the baby cry

Ireland I am coming home I can see your rolling fields of green And fences made of stone I am reaching out won't you take my hand I'm coming home Ireland Yes I am home Ireland

We were forty against hundreds ..They were forty against hundreds
