===Biography===
Courynn began playing Amtgard in 2000 while at college in Syracuse, NY (studying Musical Theatre performance). Having fallen in love with LARPing while playing [http://www.darkon.org Darkon], he stumbled upon the then Shire of [[Haranshire]] and began playing, recruiting as many friends as he could to come along weekly (some of whom have continued to play to this day). 
While in Haranshire, he established a reputation as a garber, RPer, singer and chef with a larger-than-average perfectionistic streak and an uncompromising attention to detail, which earned him some friends and as some enemies (both in, and out of character). As a chef, he prepared two seven-course midreign feasts, including many authentic medieval recipes. 

He took one term as regent in 2003, but had to cut short his term because of spending a semester abroad studying period costume design and construction at the [http://www.fashion.arts.ac.uk London College of Fashion]. Upon his return and graduation, he moved for a time to California, joining smaller Amtgard groups near San Louis Obispo and Santa Barbara. In late 2003, he moved to Northern Virginia and joined [[Crystal Groves]]. 

While there he constantly fought for more and better RP on the field and at events, wrote and ran quests and generally made a nuisance of himself. Taking a hiatus from garbing, he turned his hand to writing, penning "''Amt-Arda: A guide to Role-Playing the World of J.R.R. Tolkien in the Live Action Role-Playing Game Amtgard''" (free for download [http://www.electricsamurai.com/tolkien_amtgard.pdf here]) and designing and running the Amtgard supplement "''Feudalism: The Home Game''" on the field for a few months. After the collapse of the North Eastern Elven Court, he founded the [[Caleldar]], an OOC and IC household dedicated to promoting good roleplay amongst those who RP elves, and promoting the play of Tolkien-esque elves in Amtgard. 

He is currently on indefinite sabbatical from Amtgard, having returned to England in 2005. He earned a Master's in Medieval Studies at the [http://www.york.ac.uk University of York] and is currently studying towards a PhD in Medieval Studies at the [http://www.leeds.ac.uk/ims Institute for Medieval Studies at the University of Leeds]. He has published a few articles in journals on Movie Medievalism and has a forthcoming book chapter.
