Western Gate Proper
a former Amtgard Freehold, located in St Louis, Missouri.
In June 2013, the Amtgard Board of Directors revoked the contract of Western Gate, meaning they are no longer an Amtgard group and cannot use the name Amtgard.

History
Founded by Saint Sir Arilus Styx Nemoralis and Vincent Thorne in 1998. Rumor has it that Styx started playing a boffer game called KBC or Kingdom of the Broken Crown. In researching new weapon technology Styx came across the game of amtgard and Western Gate was founded. Western Gate originally started at Tower Grove Park and the populous quickly outgrew that park and moved to Carondelet in favour of a safer area, more accessible locale and better fields. In 2009 the duchy had grown to the point where they petitioned the circle of monarchs for kingdom status at clan. Their bid was declined and soon after a principality was formed around the duchy and the following year at clan this principality would become the 16th kingdom of Amtgard, Tal Dagore. In February of 2013 the duchy was removed from the Kingdom of Tal Dagore becoming a Freehold.

Western Gate meets every Sunday at 12:30 pm in Carondelet Park - 3 blocks west of the Loughborough Exit at Interstate 55 in St Louis Missouri. Carondolet Park Loughborough & Grand Avenue St. Louis, MO 63111 We fight all winter long. If it's Sunday we're there.

Households & Companies
Western Gate has been the birthplace of many different households and fighting companies.
- Sol Invictus: Consistently in the top 2 of RW Kingdom competition. They are the oldest company in WG.
- Black Heaven: This is a newer fighting company at Western Gate but is quickly growing and always improving their ranks.
- Brothers Grim and O.P.S., are fighting companies that were also started here at Western Gate. PTK was also a fighting company started at Western Gate and is on its way back after a short disolvement.
- Western Gate also has members in many different fighting companies and households including Justicars, Wendy and The Lost Boys, House Maiar, Grendel, Household Fianna Driag, Critter and the Hot Chicks, Dagger of the Silvermoon, Western Gate Bardic Troupe & Saracens.
