The group record keeping Officer

Prime ministers in the World

A prime minister is the most senior minister of a cabinet in the executive branch of government in a parliamentary system. They are usually, but need not always be, a politician. In many systems the Prime Minister selects and can dismiss other members of the cabinet, and allocates posts to members within the Government. In most systems they are the presiding member and chairperson of the cabinet. In a minority of systems, notably in semi-presidential system of government, a prime minister is the official who is appointed to manage the civil service and execute the directives of the President.

In parliamentary systems like the United Kingdom's Westminster system, the prime minister is the presiding and actual head of the government and head of the executive branch. In such systems, the head of state (the King, Queen, President, or Governor-General de facto), although officially the head of the executive branch, is a ceremonial position. The Prime Minister is often, but not always, a member of parliament and is expected with other ministers to ensure the passage of bills through the legislature. In some monarchies the prime minister also exercises executive powers (known as the Royal Prerogative) which are constitutionally vested in the Crown and can be exercised without the approval of parliament.

As well as being Head of Government, a prime minister may have other roles or titles — the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, for example, is also First Lord of the Treasury.1 Prime ministers may take other ministerial posts — for example during the Second World War Winston Churchill was also Minister of Defense (although there was then no Ministry of Defense).

Prime Ministers in Amtgard

Prime Minister, or Chancellor as it is often called on the local level, is the most thankless, time consuming job that exists in all of Amtgardia. In most cases the Prime Minister of a group is responsible for keeping track of awards, credits, dues, waivers, of every single player past and present; and group funds. In some Kingdoms these duties are split with the Treasurer of the BoD. In any case it is a lot of paper work and a lot of responsibility.

The Term of a prime minister over laps that of the Monarch, starting at on Midreign and continuing to the next, thereby providing continuity through out the reigns. The Prime minister is the second in the line of succession in most places, meaning that if the Monarch were to step down before the end other their term the PM would take up the office. During the changing of the guard at coronation it is the prime minsters responsibility to de-crown the old monarch and Crown the new one.

How do you become a Prime Minster?

A prime minister is usually chosen by the voting (dues paid) public from those candidates that declare their intent for the office. In most cases the candidates are not required to enter any quals, but most are required to pass a corpora test.
