5.0 Rulebook

From AmtWiki

This page lists content from rulebook version 5.0. The current rulebook is version Rulebook 8.6.3.

It is worthwhile to note that whilst wiki-fyng the rulebook does make information easier to find it also makes that information about as honest and accurate as that page’s last updater. This section of the Amtwiki is meant as a guide, not the absolute last word on the rules. For complete rules listing, please visit the Amtgard Documents page.

A note about rulebook content

Actual rulebook text is always contained inside yellow rule blocks. Any text not inside a rule block is either anecdotal, cultural, opinion, or general (but non-official) guidance. A rule block looks like this:

FIGHTING CLASSES

If you wish to fight or participate in a battlegame you must conform to one class for each game. The following are the basic rules of all the fighting classes. Note that each class has a biannually elected guild-master who is responsible for the discipline and maintenance of the class.

The rulebook in play around 1987.

Main differences between 5.0 and 6.0 were that back then, Bards didn't have a regular spell list, instead had a bunch of non-magical abilities. When the conversion came to 6.0 they also had to pay spell points for their weapons, which was a major change for them, as before they could take whatever they wanted without reducing their spellcasting.

This was the last time any classes had guildmaster perks. 1987 5.0 PDF
