Stonhenj

From AmtWiki

Stonhenj is a musical group originally started by Amtgarders from the Borderlands.

Here is a description of Stonhenj taken directly from their myspace page: We are a non-profit organization of actors, stage combatants, dancers and singers from the North Texas and Central Texas regions. We enjoy getting together and performing while educating people on the Renaissance time period. The members of this diverse group come from different backgrounds, not only in their life but in their stage experience. Some have operatic and stage training, where others just started because of a love for the Renaissance period and the many faires that have cropped up in recent years. The Stonhenj Players began life as The Borderland Bards. During a camp out, in Cloudcroft, NM, with another group, Amtgard, the founding members struggled to get the harmonies of a particular song correct. After hours of singing the same song over and over, they decided that they should form a group. They sang as The Borderland Bards for a couple of years. After one coffee shop performance, as the group was sitting at dinner, it was decided that the group needed to change its name. Many names were suggested, but it was only after one member made the statement "Let's not call ourselves something stupid like Stonehenge" when lightening struck. Hence, Stonhenj was born. Since then, the group has gone through a few iterations on the name; Stonhenj Renaissance Singers (previous), Stonhenj Renaissance Players (recently), and now the Stonhenj Players, to encompass our expanding repertoire of different period characters. Stonhenj has performed at festivals, schools, fairs, coffee shops, pubs and madrigal feasts. Also, the group has made appearances at movie openings, as well as SCA, HFS and Amtgard events.
