Clan Sword

From The Stick Jock's Dictionary - Clan Sword: A stiff or sometimes outright illegal weapon made specifically to be used at the Gathering of the Clans. In time the term came to apply to any sword of dubious legality ended to curb cheating and an IK Event. It is important to note that Clan Swords do not exist. It is also not true that many clan swords are in fact newbie swords strapped down with duct tape.

Historically when groups from all over Amtgard would meet at Clan, they were using Burning Lands rules which often used less padding than other areas. On top of that, whenever a group with less padded weapons would enter the battlefield, people would actually strip down and remove padding from weapons to overcome the perceived gap between theirs and others. In time people came to actually construct weapons in advance in anticipaiton of this. Also, as mentioned above, they were created to deal with different levels of shot-taking with people they had never met before.
