A Yuletide Tale

From AmtWiki

A filk by Staccatto Toccata.

Composer's Note

This is a filk of the poem "'Twas the Night Before Christmas" attributed to Clement Clark Moore. I wrote this intending it to be a fun tribute to the populace of my beloved Inland Ocean. I plan to perform it at some small wintertime event there, but did not finish it in time for last year (2010). This piece is currently still incomplete as there are several members of the park I want to include, but have not found ideas for yet.

Thank you for reading!

The Poem

‘Twas the night before yuletide and at Inland Ocean

There was hustle and bustle and quite the commotion.

Arms of war were laid aside, a sight seen quite rarely,

In the spirit of Yuletide, all ate, drank and made merry.

While Aidan communed with a sweet honeyed ham,

Bryn ate Florentine, drumstick in each hand.

Morgan and Anberon sang songs of good cheer,

Oh, what joyful carols for all to hear.

And there in the tavern, wouldn’t you know

Lady Lalailom set up shop beneath the mistletoe.

A yuletide miracle! Downy put down the sticks!

Oh who are we kidding? He’d J-hook St. Nick.

And in Templar camp, Sir Christian roared from his steed,

“God wills a good yuletide! Hey, who stole my mead?”

But what have we here? Oh Lord, sweet mercy!

Three cheers for Hrothgar; he’s ate a whole turkey.

*Out of rhythm* No, really, all of it. I think it was alive when he started.

Odin and Turtle, two Templar brothers

Did do the Lord’s work and helped one another,

To the city’s impoverished, Odin gave bread and wine

While Turtle gave cologne? Oh, CK One, by Calvin Kline.

And while many sought kinship with close brothers and cousins,

Kubla Khan found solace in his harem’s finest dozen.
