Blüdfrost (purposely mispronounced blood frost) is a Freehold of Amtgard - a live action boffer combat game with medieval reenactment undertones - operating out of the city of Paducah in western Kentucky. The club is ran by members of the analog/tabletop club the Quilt City Ogres. The freehold is currently petitioning for membership in the Kingdom of the Valley of the Rising Winds.

Heraldry

The group's Heraldry is azure, a rose sable barbed and seeded Vert representing death, and it's words are simply "By Force." However, a joking submotto is "Don't forget the umlaut".

History

The chapter was formed by members of the Quilt City Ogres, a chapter of the international analog gaming club - the Organization of Gamers & Roleplaying Enthusiasts - operating in Paducah, Kentucky as an outlet for live action gaming. The park was officially recognized in October of 2011, and began fully gaming weekly by January of 2012.

Chapter Name

The purposeful mispronouncing of the letter Ü is a joke, referencing a fictional location in DC Comics that a writer once misused the letter in - not understanding the sound it is supposed to make.

Unique Battlegames

Park War

Blüdfrostians partake in a land control game from one session to the next, where players are able to challenge via dueling other players for fictional hexes of land. The Blüdfrost map, which coordinates directly with the shape and size of the park the chapter plays in, is divided by hexs that can be controlled by players, whether individually or by House/Company. The map is "reset" annually, with each Land Control campaign lasting roughly six months. The winner is the player who controls the most or all land by the end of that game's season. The inaugural season began in January of 2012.

A blank version of the original hex map, based off a former park, can be seen here.

Park Weaponmaster

The Blüdfrost weaponmaster tournament is known as the Blüdfrost Occasional Fight Festival or as B.O.F.F. and it is held twice annually. Sign-ins are taken in advance online and at-park via the Blüdfrost Occasional Fight Festival Event Registration (B.O.F.F.E.R.). For a history of outcomes, please click here.

Park Relics

Blüdfrost currently has two local relics in use: a pair of Gauntlets of Ogre Power and a Compass of True Sight.

Roster

Here is a roster of Blüdfrost players who have registered heraldic devices with the park's Guildmaster of Heraldry, in a roll of arms form. For a basic listing of players with articles on Amtwiki, please see the chapter's user category.
