A Barony, located in the Kingdom of the Wetlands

"The Heraldry of Bloodwyrm Haven"

Park

Physically located in Lake Jackson, Texas, Bloodwyrm Haven was founded by Caim Bloodwyrm in March of 2012, and was granted it's status as a Shire of the Kingdom in 2013. At endreign/coronation 2014, Bloodwyrm Haven was promoted to Barony. Bloodwyrm Haven is one of the fastest growing parks in the Wetlands . This park is a haven for those who play Amtgard, honor the rules, and are out to have a good time. Combat and battle-games comprise the majority of the events at BWH, but the A&S community is strong and growing as well.

History

The park of Bloodwyrm Haven started in Caim Bloodwyrm's front yard, with a handful of other friends and distant acquaintances. Within six months, the park had grown beyond the size of the yard, and the park at large agreed that it was time to move location. Dahlia Aed took it upon herself to get permission for the group to play at one of the local parks. Unintentionally, she somehow got permission for them to play at ANY of the parks, much to the group's elation. Eventually they chose one, and settled in for the next year or so.

The Arrow Debacle

About a year into the group's existence, and having just recently been made a Shire of the Wetlands, the park hit a speed bump. While they were comfortable at their beloved park, and were slowly growing, they were unaware of an issue lurking in their fair province. Caim and Stravos Avanti, (with Dahlia watching) having gotten to park early, decided to do target practice with a deer target and one of their bows. The arrows were target tipped, not padded, and a mundane person who had driven by called the local mundane authorities out of concern.

Upon the police officer's arrival, the group was made aware that there was a local ordinance, put in place in the 1960's, that disallowed the use of 'an arrow shot from a bow' and equated it to discharging a fire arm. Due to the ambiguity of the wording, this ordinance covered everything from hunting bows and deer arrows down to the nerf bows with foam arrows from the store. Out of concern for the group's members, and not wanting to break the law, Caim as monarch, and Dahlia as prime minister, both agreed to cease arrow use until the matter could be resolved.

Then followed nine months of meetings and negotiations for Dahlia, who Caim had named 'Mundane Liaison' - Dahlia met with the Mundane parks and recreations board, the director, the city council, the police chief, and the mayor, all in an attempt to find common ground that would allow her province the use of arrows once more.

During this trying time, Dahlia's mundane life interceded, and forced her to step down from the position of prime minister, as well as made her unable to attend park regularly. Caim forged ahead, though, and took care of his populace, ensuring that the park's records were put in. Then, it was summer. The park that had been going strong and growing diligently, seemed to die overnight. For nearly three months the park was desolate, with only Caim showing up weekly, occasionally being able to wrangle people into coming out in ones and twos.

Meanwhile, Dahlia's mundane life settled, and she and the city came to a mutual agreement. If the populace would agree to move parks to a more populated area, and only use their arrows in certain fields, away from mundane activity, then the city would make changes to the ordinance, allowing the group to resume their archery without worry for the repercussions.

Initially the populace was apprehensive and disliked the idea of moving parks, concerned that to do so would kill the park entirely. Dahlia eventually convinced them though, and the populace of the (once again) growing Shire moved one last time, to a new location.

The First True Election

Shortly after moving parks, and their numbers stabilizing, elections came up. Caim, ran once more for Monarch, desiring the ability to guide and ensure that his park flourished. With the new location, and a resurgence of their populace's attendance, Dahlia decided to run for Regent, wanting to bring the arts and sciences to her beloved park. Dahlia's Man-at-Arms, Baulder Gurrk ran for Champion, eventually winning out against his belt brother Lucian Dracul by a single shot. What followed was six months of The Dream. There was fun and games, A&S, quests, and camaraderie, and the park grew exponentially.

Baulder, seeing the need for one, appointed Lucian as his second in command, ensuring that there was nearly always a game, ditch, or quest being run, and with the assistance of Dahila, as the sitting Regent, grew the role play aspect of their park, introducing story-lines that spanned months.

As Regent, Dahlia took it upon herself to raise the bar in the park, leading workshops for weapon making, garb, and belt weaving, and managing to get her park into something resembling amtgard clothing.

Caim presided over it all, helping the park work together, and ensuring that credits were properly counted.

Come their midreign, Dahlia had convinced Caim that he needed to focus more on his duties as monarch, and pass the credit keeping duties on to someone else. Thus, elections were held, and the park rejoiced at their new Prime Minister, Shadow Doll Archain.

The Second Term

As Caim's reign came to a close, Dahlia stepped forward, declaring her intention to run for monarch, along with Shadow Doll's husband Elys Atlas Archain. The campaigning was a tumultuous time, with the park realizing that their park's corpora had never been disbanded when the province joined the Kingdom of the Wetlands, and having to deal with the sudden influx of politics that happened due to that.

Dahlia led a campaign that was twofold, one, to run for office, and two, to repeal the park corpora, which she had written in the group's infancy. The officers held a vote, and agreed to use the provincial corpora for the remainder of the reign, and allow the next term's monarch to make the lasting decision. Run the park based on the Kingdom standards alone, or keep the park's corpora, with significantly higher standards set?

In the meantime though, there was even more of a stir brewing. Baulder, sitting as the champion, was looking through the ORK, and discovered that Elys was ineligible to run, due to lack of credits and according to the provincial Corpora. Bauldr took it to his Squire, and the two of them to Caim, as the monarch. Dahlia and Baulder were polarized, Baulder insisting that they had agreed and were honor-bound to obey the corpora, and Dahlia insisting that the Populace deserved a true choice of candidate, regardless if Elys was a single credit short. The two of them, unable to come to an agreement, turned the issue over to Caim, declaring that neither of them would vote to that end, and whichever choice their monarch made, would be his to make. After significant deliberation, Caim sided with the corpora, and broke the news to his company brother, that he could not run.

Dahlia, on the other hand, was irritated, and expressed her condolences to Elys, through Shadow Doll, promising to do what she could- Luck was had, however, and Dahlia figured out that there were some credits missing, and made the others aware, allowing her competitor to run.

Elections were held, and presided over by Harold Thundervoice of Granite Spyre, who was visiting with King Warlord Termus, on his viewing of the Kingdom.

Dahlia was declared to winner by vote, and verified by the King.

With her stood Baulder as the new Regent, and Lucian as the Champion.

Tumultuous Times

Shortly after taking the Monarch's seat, issues began to flock to Dahlia's feet. First and foremost was the repealing of the Province's Corpora. As the corpora had been voted into existence by the populace of Bloodwyrm Haven, Dahlia determined that the document could only be repealed in that way. Upon her ascension to Sheriff (as the park was a strong Shire) she called an Allthing. After much debate about the pros and cons of both the Provincial Corpora and the Kingdom one, a vote was held, and the people repealed it, agreeing to abide by the Wetlands Corpora, henceforth.

With little time to breathe, Dahlia was swept up in another squall, involving her Prime Minister, Shadow Doll. Mundane life was interceding on a large level, causing the prime minister to have to be absent for several weekends overall, and a large chunk of the end of her term, and while the now repealed provincial corpora had no laws describing the actions taken when an officer was absent for stretches of time, the Kingdom Corpora did.

Dahlia asked for advice from Don Sebastian Du Lac, who helped write the majority of the Kingdom Corpora, and asked him to help her wade those treacherous waters. He did so admirably, and after taking his advice to heart, made Shadow Doll aware that she would need to step back, and allow Dahlia to find a replacement. Shadow Doll was understandably upset, but eventually acquiesced.

At Shadow Doll's and Elys' singular demand, Dahlia held elections, rather than appointing the position, as was her right and dictate from the corpora.

Qualls and the election were held, and the winner was Thule Ironbeard.

There was peace once again.

Dahlia saw her province grow, and the kingdom elevated their group from Shire to Baroness, causing cheers to be heard from all corners.

The Second Dawn

The end of her reign drawing nigh, and realizing that her constant leadership was taking a tole on her, Dahlia began watching for those who would be good leaders. Thule stepped forward once more, and declared his intent, along with Midori, to run for the position of Monarch. With a little bit of prodding, Sarai De Mandaloria ran for Regent, against Arathamus D'Bois, and Azthak and Caim pitted against each other for Champion.

For the first time in their Province, Qualls were held for Monarch, Regent, and Champion, causing some small uproar at deviating from the traditional "All in favor, aye." voting that had taken place in the past. However, the populace settled down, and their possible officers all passed Qualls with flying colors.

By a landslide, the populace chose Thule and Sarai as their Baron and Regent, and Azthak as their Champion.

Thus do we stand, at the end of the Second Dawn, looking into a new era of our Province and Kingdom.

May they be as fruitful as those before.
