Zulu Spear

From AmtWiki

Zulu Spears (Introduced to Amtgard by Spyn Thrift N’than) are a 5' short spear with a blade between traditionally 8" and 18" . Historically used by African tribes, this weapon has also seen light in the fantasy worlds such as Robert Jordan's series "The wheel of time". In his books the Aiel are tribal like warriors who carry multiple spears and use them with great efficiency.

When used properly, it is not only an impressive weapon but an important teaching tool. It helps focus on tighter circles, conservation of motion, range control as well as several other aspects of fighting.

Zulu spears are often considered cheesey because of their reach and relatively light weight. This view is most often shared by mediocre fighters who find them especially difficult to confront. They are also often viewed as potentially dangerous because of the long core of the weapon.

Current rulebook weapon standards do not allow for the use of zulu spears; short, long and even reach weapons require 2/3 strike legal padding for slashing weapons.
